Description
English: 030314-N-0780F-050 Souda Bay, Crete, Greece (Mar. 14, 2003) -- Patrol Squadron Eight (VP-8) aircrew members walk to their P-3C Orion aircraft to prepare for their next mission. VP-8, home ported at NAS Brunswick, Maine, is currently deployed to the Mediterranean theater with detachments at Naval Air Station Sigonella, Sicily and Naval Support Activity Souda Bay. The P-3C is a land-based, long-range, anti-submarine warfare (ASW) patrol aircraft. It has advanced submarine detection sensors and can carry a mixed payload of weapons internally and on wing pylons.
