Małopolski Instytut Kultury w Krakowie In 1879, at the Kmita Rock in Zabierzów, Gotfryd Ossowski conducted small excavations during which he discovered medieval artefacts, including arrowheads of eastern origin. The nomadic provenance of the three presented arrowheads is distinctly clear. Similar arrowheads are found in the southwest of Rus’ in the fortresses destroyed by the Mongols and dated to the 12th century or the 1st half of the 13th century. There is no doubt that the arrowheads are a trace of a Polish-Mongol skirmish, which was an episode of one of the 13th century Mongol invasions of Poland.
