It is necessary not only that the child sleep a certainnumber of hours each day, but also that the sleeping hoursbe properly apportioned. There must be a definite timefor going to bed, for getting up in the morning, and fortaking the nap. For the first three or four months the baby should beput to bed at half past five or six oclock. It should not beroused more often than once or twice during the night, andmust sleep undisturbed for six full hours. In the earlyweeks it is allowed to sleep during the day as much as itwill; but after it is a month old, if it is kept awake forabout an hour previous to its bed time, it will be sureto have a better nights rest. When the infant is betweenfour and six months of age it should be put to bed at sixor seven in the evening, and sleep until six or seven in themorning. It may be awakened and fed at nine or ten
