No territory was taken offuntil 1799, when Camden was made a part of thieidacounty. Watertown and Champion in Jefferson county,Lowvillc and Turin in Lewis county, and Ilcdfield, weretiiken off in ISdU. Next followed Loraine in .Ieflei-soncounty, and Williamstown in this county, in 1S04. HISTORY OF OSWEGO COUNTY, NEW YORK. 263 northwest by the Syracuse Northern railroad, upon whichUnion Square is a station. Mexico is divided into nine-teen school districts, comprising one hundred and eighty-four lots, of about one hundred and sixty acres each. The surface is gently rolling, and well watered bynumerous streams, the principal of which are the LittleSalmon and Sage creeks; the former affording considerablewater-power. There is scarcely a foot of waste or brokenland in the town. The underlying rock is gray sandstone,covered deep with alluvial deposits. The .soil consists of aclay, sand, and gravelly loam, and is very productive. Hayis the main crop ; oats, barley, and pototoes, also pears andapples, are raised in considerable quantities.
