Description: La figure 1 est un tronçon d'une Carpe ordinaire: on ne l'a pas dessinée en entier, parce que son corps ressemble entièrement à la Carpe fig. 2; il n'y a de différence que dans les écailles. On l'a représentée allongeant le museau pour sucer ses aliments, pag. 509 & suiv. La figure 2 est une Carpe dite à miroir, qui ne differe de la précédente que par la forme des écailles, qui sont très-brillantes, étant brunes du côté où elles sont recouvertes par les autres, & presque blanches au bord opposé: on y voit le museau comme il est quand ils ne cherchent pas à sucer ses aliments. La figure 3 est destinée à faire voir comment les écailles se recouvrent les unes les autres. La figure 4 est, je crois, une jeune Brème ou la Brème gardonnée, & qui me paroît avoir beaucoup de ressemblance avec le Poisson que Bélon appelle Platane. Fig. 5 la Bouvière, très-petit Poisson qui ressemble beaucoup à la Carpe. Fig. 6, l'Epinoche; quelques-uns le nomment Savetier: il est chargé d'ardillons. J'en ai représenté un vu par-dessous le ventre. Fig. 7 le Véron ou Vairon, très-petit Poisson, qui, au sortir de l'eau, a des couleurs très-brillantes.
