Summary[edit]

Description
Nederlands: Arti Legi, Markt 27, 2801 JJ te Gouda. Waar nu de Arti Legi staat stond tot 1573 de Latijnse school waar ook Erasmus heeft gestudeerd. Daarna stond er het zogenaamde Boterhuis. Tussen 1853 en 1855 werd de oude bebouwing vervangen door het huidige pand. Het werd ontworpen door W. C. van Goor in de eclectische stijl en kreeg een dubbel functie met kantongerecht, tekenschool en van 1874 - 1947, Stedelijk Museum. Deze combinatie verklaart de naam Arti Legi "voor kunst en wet". Het gebouw heeft verder o.a dienst gedaan als V.V.V. kantoor en wordt nu gebruikt voor lezingen en exposities. Bron: Het A.N.W.B. bord op de gevel van het gebouw.
