Summary[edit]
English: Coca-cola contains too much sugar: one can of Coke = 10 teaspoons of sugar. Sugar contribute to tooth decay and erosion of teeth. The enamelum is the hardest tissue in the human body. Enamel covers the crown which is the part of the tooth that's visible outside of the gums. The main portion of the tooth, the dentin, is the part that's responsible for your tooth color. In addition, Coca cola includes the acids that weaken the tooth enamel: in the end the acids dissolve the hydroxyapatite crystal from which our enamel is comprised. Erosion is an irreversible process, because the enamel has no living cells and the body is unable to restore this structure. Erosion causes your teeth to lose their natural white color, the enamel is destroyed, exposing the dentin underneath, which in turn becomes more sensitive. The tooth will begin to change color from white to yellow, from yellow to brown. In this micrograph, you can see a deep lesion of the tooth, allowing you to see the dark, dead tooth tissue.
