| Description |
English: Epiphany bathing is a folk tradition that exists in Russia, associated with bathing in an ice hole (Jordan) or in open reservoirs on the feast of the Epiphany (Epiphany) on January 19.
Tradition is not a church rite and is not prescribed by the church charter. It was not invented by theologians, but by ordinary people who perform this rite solely on their own initiative. People believe that there is a cleansing from sins through a triple immersion in the consecrated hole-the Jordan.Русский: Креще́нские купа́ния — народная традиция, существующая в России, связанная с купанием в проруби (иордани) или в открытых водоёмах на праздник Крещения Господня (Богоявления) 19 января.
Традиция не является церковным обрядом и не предписывается церковным уставом. Придумали её не богословы, а простые люди, которые совершают этот обряд исключительно по собственной инициативе. Люди считают, что происходит очищении от грехов посредством троекратного погружения в освящённую прорубь-иордань.
