Summary[edit]

Description
English: Valeriya Lavrenko, deputy director of the Dnipropetrovsk National Historical Museum named after Yavornytskyi and mentor of the Noosphere Archeology project, during excavations at "Baltka Kantserka" in the village of Lyubimivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The expedition took place in the summer of 2022 at the site of an ancient pottery center of an international level of the early Middle Ages, and the monument itself is associated with the Alan tribes (nomadic tribes whose stay in Ukraine dates back to the VII-VIII centuries). At a depth of 3.4 m, the team of archaeologists managed to find a pottery horn with an area of more than 2x2 m² with a ritual burial of a dog above it. The Alans had at that time a unique technology of firing ceramics under the closed dome of the horn, as a result of which it acquired a black color. Such products were extremely popular both among the nomadic peoples and among the Slavs, the quality of ceramic products in which at that time was much lower despite the settled lifestyle.
