Про історію криниці розповідав учень Баал Шем Това рабин Яків Йосеп Коген з Полонного. Одного разу Баал Шем Тов усамітнився у цьому місці для молитвт з Яковом Йосепом Когеном. Час був пізній, і коли сонце почало заходити, Бешт згадав, що він ще не сказав молитву Мінха. Коли він захоиів омити руки перед молитвою, він побачив, що навколо немає води, а часу, щоб дійти до наступного джерела, дуже мало. Час минав і ставало все пізніше. Тоді Бешт Упав, розтягнувся на землі і почав молитися, щоб Всевишній надав йому води для обмивання рук перед молитвою, "а якщо ні, то краще мені померти, але не порушити правила Шулхан Арух". Коли він закінчив молитву, то побачив, що у трьох кроках від нього з-під землі почала з'являтися вода. Вода з цього джерела донині тече до сусідньої мікви.
