Description
English: 'Swan', Tall Ships Belfast 2009, near to Newtownabbey, Ireland.

Converted fishing boat 'Swan' in Belfast Lough as part of the 'Parade of Sail' to mark the end of the Tall Ships event in Belfast.

The 'Swan' was built and launched in Lerwick as a fishing boat in 1900. After a long life she was returned to Lerwick and relaunched in 1996 as a sail training vessel operated by the Swan Trust. Each year around 1000 pupils from Shetland, Orkney and The Western Isles are taken out on short sailing trips but has also travelled all around the UK and is commonly seen in the fjords of Norway and on the Faroese coast each year. She has also taken trainees to take part in the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Races to ports in France, Denmark, Ireland and Holland..
