Summary[edit]

Description 'Elephant safety house' just outside the gates to the path leading upto the Sigiriya hill. According to my driver guide, elephants prowl about only at night. When that happens, the lone security guard can quickly clamber up this tree and into the 'elephant safety house' seen here. When I asked him if the tree cannot be knocked down, my guide said no, that's why they select the thickest and sturdiest of trees. (Sigiriya, Sri Lanka, June 2011).
