Description
English: Staff Sgt. Brandon A. Zylstra, center, stands with Maj. Gen. Joseph F. Fil, Jr., the Multi-National Division-Baghdad commanding general on his right and Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno, commanding general, Multi-National Corps-Iraq on his left, before Odierno pinned the Silver Star on him during a ceremony on Forward Operating Base Loyalty in eastern Baghdad, Aug. 5. Zylstra, a native of Sully, Iowa, and Soldier with the 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment based out of Fort Bragg and attached to the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, received the award for his actions April 10, which saved his Soldiers lives and redirected fire against the enemy in Baghdad's Al Fadhl neighborhood.
