| Description |
Het Victoriabeeld is het symbool van de strijd van Alkmaar tegen de Spanjaarden in 1573. Het beeld staat in het Victoriapark dat werd aangelegd in 1824. In 1873 werd de eerste steen voor het beeld gelegd door Koning Willen III. Drie jaar lang werkte beeldhouwer Franz Stracké (Dorsten, Duitsland 1820-Baarn 1898) aan het beeld. In 1876 werd het geplaatst. Het beeld kijkt richting Oudorp waar de Spaanse soldaten eens hun kampen hadden opgeslagen tijdens de belegering van Alkmaar. Bron: Blikophetverleden.nl |
