A large bronze sculpture of a Puritan man wearing a pilgrim hat, a broad cape, a vest, knee length pants, and long stockings. He holds a large book tucked between his left arm and his body and a walking stick in his right hand.

"The Puritan" was sculpted by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and presented to Governor Theodore Roosevelt by his military staff on December 31, 1900. It is located in the North Room of the Theodore Roosevelt Home.
