| Description |
This decades-old Land Cruiser has been pressed into service by the rebels. Khaled Mesaoud, a 28-year-old fighter sitting on the back next to a mounted anti-aircraft gun, said he and his friends call it "the Donkey's Head," because of how stubborn and resilient it is. Mesaoud said he had been rejected by one of the ad-hoc rebel brigades and was fighting on the front with his friends under no particular leadership. Last night, they drove around 20 kilometres past the front line, saw a flare go up from a suspected government position, and fired Grad rockets at it. Such skirmishes are common these days, Mesaoud said. |
