| Description | 10 years ago, I sailed as a passenger from Port Talbot in Wales to Thunder Bay in Canada aboard the Polsteam bulk freighter "Isolda". In this picture the "Isolda" is passing the downbound "Algosoo" in the Welland Canal. The lock that we are in is a double chamber lock but the one above has only a single chamber so we had to wait for the "Algosoo" to clear before proceeding. It took a long time for "Algosoo" to come down - when I first sighted her it was broad daylight but by the time that "Algosoo" had cleared the upper lock night had fallen. |
