I do not understand why, but I cannot open the svg images that you have prepared and posted. They download as svg images, but I cannot open them with Inkscape. Patrick Edwin Moran (talk) 01:48, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I just experimented with making my own SVG following the directions given in the project page. It works. So what is the problem with the images posted on Commons? If I were to post my image to Commons, then would it get broken in the process? None of my other SVG images have been broken before. Patrick Edwin Moran (talk) 02:28, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

1. Do you download from commons an .svg file ?
2. Which character are you downloading ? this specific file may be corrupt.
3. Try an otherone.
Then we will know more. Yug (talk) 09:16, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have done as you suggested more than once. For instance I just tried for 垂. My download record shows: 垂-bigseal.svg. When I try to open the resulting file using Inkscape I get the error message:
"Failed to load the requested file/Users/patrickmoran/Image Sorter/垂-bigseal.svg"
If I try to open it with GraphicConverter, which opens the SVG files I make without any problem, it says:
"The file "垂-bigseal.svg" is broken, the format is unknown or it isn't a graphic file. So GraphicConverster can't open it."
