  •  Request There are enough images related to this battle to create a dedicated category (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...). Could you please make it? That will ease the review, improve the categorization of the candidate and allow a relevant link in the scope. --Myrabella (talk) 19:48, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm finishing off a major project; I'll try to get to that tomorrow. Adam Cuerden (talk) 20:53, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Oppose as not yet eligible for VI status. Thank you for nominating this image. Unfortunately, it cannot at present become a valued image since it currently fails valued image criterion 6 (is not well categorized at an appropriate level). See request above. I oppose also to keep the VIC open a few days more; I could create the category soon if you are too busy straightaway. --Myrabella (talk) 13:38, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment: I've tried to find everything, but I need to make an important distinction: The Malakoff was a fortified redoubt which the Russians used throughout much of the Siege of Sevastapol, which lasted for a year. The Battle of Malakoff only refers to the events of 7 September 1855 that resulted in it being captured. As such, I've had to be selective: just seeing people on the Malakoff does not mean that it's part of the Battle of Malakoff. Adam Cuerden (talk) 01:54, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Support Nice work, well documented and categorized now :-) This lithograph is contemporary to the event, which is valuable too. My only concern is about the flag: according to en:Battle of Malakoff or fr:Battle of Malakoff, it was a the French zouave who installed the French flag on the top of the Russian redoubt. Here we see a zouave holding the flag, which isn't the case in the nominated picture unless I'm wrong. However, it may be anecdotal. More expert reviewers' opinion welcome. --Myrabella (talk) 10:54, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment Zouave officers were allways "continental" Frenchmen, and wore european uniform, like for all the "Armée d'Afrique" (tirailleurs, turcos, chasseurs d'Afrique and so on). I have some documents about that and shall prove it soon (if real life give me some time !!!). Here, the man is (or could be) a zouave officer, no problem then.--Jebulon (talk) 14:27, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • ...even I prefer the Vernet (only an opinion)--Jebulon (talk) 21:08, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
