  •  Question How should we judge which photo is best in scope? Shangela looks most convincing as a female impersonator in this photo, but if we're looking for the technically best photo to represent Shangela at review size, your nomination is as good as any. I guess my question is, does Shangela usually look more like the photo you chose or the other one, or do they vary their look a lot, which would also be a reason to just choose the best photo? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:17, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
 Comment @Ikan Kekek Thanks for the question! Shangela is a drag queen, and as a performer she frequently changes outfits, hairstyle and makeup. I don't know which criteria you use to state that she "looks most convincing as a female impersonator" : is there one universal model of "womanhood" that we should base ourselves upon? The alternative photo you suggest has bad lighting (looks taken with a flash in a bar) and imho poor composition. It doesn't do Shangela justice, we have much better pictures. The fact that Shangela is best known for her participation in RuPaul's Drag Race makes me think that a photograph taken at a RuPaul event (DragCon 2017) is also relevant to know which picture is best in scope.   •  Support I'm not suggesting one universal model of womanhood, but isn't looking convincingly like a woman the fundamental job of a female impersonator? Otherwise, why would they go through the effort to carefully choose outfits, makeup and so on?
