Reason Illustration from the official FAA Glider Flying Handbook, recently updated to the 2013 edition. When being aerotowed, staying clear of the tug's propeller wake is one of the most important things the glider pilot has to do. This picture illustrates the common "high tow" as well as the less common "low tow" positions the pilot can choose for this. -- El Grafo (talk)
