Scope Nominated as the most valued image on Commons within the scope:
Hailstone
Used in Global usage
Reason This appears to be the best image of a hailstone in the category "Hail" in that it both has an object for size comparison and doesn't contain distracting elements to the photo. A second possible contender for the best image is File:Hageldewangen.jpg, but I believe the nominated image to be better due to the background the hailstone is displayed upon. Note that the image is geotagged with the town the hailstone fell in, but a precise location is not known. -- Ks0stm (TCG)

  • And the hailstone is less molten. A propos - I'd name the scope hailstonbe, hail may be a picture of falling hail, or a large mass of lying hailstones covering ground. --Ikar.us (talk) 20:44, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Added metric size and  Support. --Ikar.us (talk) 21:24, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment Thank God or Mother Nature, hailstones aren't ususally so big when falling on our heads. Because of its exceptional size, the photographed specimen can't be said absolutely typical for the scope. --Myrabella (talk) 16:06, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment I see. However, it's the only image of a hailstone where a pronounced outer shape is preserved. All others look molten, broken or are cut (which is of course informative, but could be another scope.)  Info Thank God, in German we have only hailgrains. --Ikar.us (talk) 16:17, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  •  CommentHe gave them hailstones for rain; fire mingled with the hail ran along upon the ground.

(Psalm cv: 32; Exodus 9: 23, 24). Do you know Israel in Egypt, Oratorio by my friend GF HANDEL ? You have to. A musical WOW.--Jebulon (talk) 16:52, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
