Image:PotsdamSanssouciChineseHouse.jpg[edit]

This image was taken back from voting because of more than one enhancing which were competing each other. That's why I try to find a common sense with those people who tried to enhance the image and come back with the final version. Sorry for the confusion Andreas Tille 09:29, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC) The older version gathered some votes which are kept here, but note that the dislayed image is the new one. •  Oppose Like Norro, but I like this image very much and have tried to make it even better by cropping, changing coloursaturation and kurves and so on (I hope that is ok?). I don't know how you usually to do this - but I'm trying to add the changed version under this... --Malene Thyssen 21:04, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for trying to enhance this image. Yes it is generally OK if people try to enhance my images - in most cases I agreed with the enhancement. In this particular case I'm not very impressed. The cropping might be OK to reduce the elements on top of the image. But all other changes make the image worse. The saturation of colors do not match either my impression of the real situation nor the original slide. My version is very close to reality and thus I would like to stick to the original colors - even if people would like the changed colors more - I would never replace my image with the new one (what you do with the changed image is up to you - the license does allow this). Moreover you removed some leaves which were swimming in the water and looked like dust on the scan. I thought about removeing them to make the image more smooth - but I decided to stick to reality. Last but not least the branches of the trees look very blured on your version compared to the original. I really do not like it. So, as I said, I acknowledge your work but I would like to stick to my original image. The only change I would think about is to crop the top slightly. Andreas Tille 14:31, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Fair enough :-) As you wrote I wasn't at the scene when the photo was taken - so my version is pure fiction :-) - at least I had fun producing it :-) Regards Malene Thyssen 18:51, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Oppose -- I really like this picture, but it is very noisy. If you apply a despeckle filter to it, it will look much better, I would definately support it. ADSR6581 20:31, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I'm very interested in enhancing the image and I have to admit that I tried to use reasonable filters but the result did not became better than this one. If you like I could provide the PNG image at an accessible place and you might give it a try. The problem is that there was some morning fog and filtering removed this foggy effect. Andreas Tille 06:59, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I have tried the filter again, and I don't think it affected the fog much. I could give it a go if you wish. ADSR6581 11:52, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I would love to see your enhancement. I wonder if you should upload it instead of the other enhanced image or even create a second one - adding further confusion to voters. ;-) Unfortunately I have the PNG version only at home so I can't provide this for further work for the moment. Andreas Tille 05:53, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I've edited the current image and uploaded it as Image:ChineseHouse v2.jpg. I've only applied a despeckle filter and used the healing brush to remove dust spots. ADSR6581 10:42, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Many thanks for your work. I now see the enhancement and I love it. I replaced my image by yours. I would suggest that you remove your copy of the image to avoid bluring WikiMedia database. Thanks again Andreas Tille 16:32, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Glad you liked it. I have tagged the image for deletion. ADSR6581 17:16, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Comment from author of original image: I would love if we could finally agree to one of these images with the best quality. If people think that the original image can be enhanced by just cropping it at the coordinates Malene Thyssen suggested I could do it. As I wrote above I do not agree with the color change and as norro wrote the compression makes this image worse than the original above. I just reassembled both images to one entry in the FP list to make clear that only one of them should be a featured image - everything else would be strange. Andreas Tille 05:38, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
