- Info All by me. It's a small natural waterfall on Pretty Creek in the middle of the bush on the West Coast, New Zealand. -- Podzemnik (talk) 01:57, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

- Comment Looks lilted. Perhaps some of that is just the rocks or perhaps the angle-of-view introduces vertical perspective "distortion" but shouldn't the water that is more of a dribble than a gush be falling vertically? -- Colin (talk) 09:26, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
- Comment yes, and the white area of the 'pool' is blown. Can you rescue it? Charlesjsharp (talk) 09:59, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think there's any detail in that area anyway, what with the long exposure. Doesn't look blown to me. -- Colin (talk) 13:12, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
- White area reduces significantly when you reduce highlights, so overexposed if not blown. Charlesjsharp (talk) 17:12, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
- White always reduces when you reduce highlights. The picture is not "over exposed". Bright white is brighter than any monitor or JPG can represent. Let's not make it grey please. Reality is bright. -- Colin (talk) 21:12, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose Sorry Podzemnik but I really can't see much wow here. It's high quality as usual but the waterfall is not an outstanding subject, there is nothing especially interesting about it, and the composition doesn't really appeal to me. I do like the colours though, with the rich reds and greens. But overall this is QI not FP to me Cmao20 (talk) 15:12, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Cmao20: No worries, thanks for the vote. --Podzemnik (talk) 21:26, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

- Neutral It is tilted: the water falls not vertically (per Colin) and also should flow upwards to reach the right side of the rock. I think, the surface of the rock is in fact horizontal. Then the water can reach the right side and falls vertical. --Llez (talk) 06:12, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
- Neutral I'm sure Podzemnik is capable of keeping his camera level. If there is sufficient pressure behind a stream, water has no problem flowing upwards for a short bit, and the dribble have enough kinetic energy to arch a bit. I had the same skeptic (and groundless) comments on one of my first FPCs. There is water to the right of Colin's note that is almost vertical so I take it the water is fanning out from the rock. Looking at the background with vines hanging down and plants growing up, the photo is dead straight. Take a look at what a "tilt adjustment" would do to them. I also firmly believe that pure white sometimes is just pure white in photos. However, I'm not wowed enough by the scene to support this. --Cart (talk) 13:06, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
- I withdraw my nomination Thanks everyone so much for their votes and comments. I'm honestly unsure if it's straight or not but even if it is, it seems like lack of wow will prevent the photo from succeding anyway. Thanks Colin for the note, I'll check it out later. --Podzemnik (talk) 04:46, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
