Iris ensata 'Arctic Fancy' flower pair
  •  Info created, uploaded, nominated by Ram-Man
  •  Support I like the pair of flowers. It adds visual interest. -- Ram-Man 00:10, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Oppose Sorry, to me, this is a good but not outstanding photo of two flowers with a mildly busy background. — Julian H.✈ (talk/files) 10:41, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment so harsh light, creating a lot of dark areas in the main subject, making the background not that defused... we know that you can do better ;). -- RTA 00:12, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Not all my FPs have perfect backgrounds. I like the background on this image better than this FP. I think the high contrast works with the white petals to show detail. Besides, the pond scene in the background goes with the wet soil these irises prefer. -- Ram-Man 00:44, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
"high contrast works" yes, but you could illuminate the dark areas just putting a white paper close to the flower, and different for the other photos, the background is very bright, and this flower is very complex, for that reason, a softer background was vital... do you have the original crop? Because if the pond is important, maybe you could use a wider angle to show this, as until you said, I did not realise that was a pod... -- RTA 12:43, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Important? No. For me it is neutral rather than distracting. The (brown) water is black because of the way the light hits the water (refraction). Nothing I could have done about that. See this picture for context on the scene. Of my 58 irises this is my favorite. It just glows on my bright 4k monitor like so few of my flowers. That's why I nominated it. -- Ram-Man 12:58, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Humm, ok, I made one very raw edition (2min max) just to show what I'm trying to say:
Now the flower pop-ups a little bit more, of course this is a jpeg edit and not careful one, but you get? -- RTA 21:54, 5 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    I tinkered a bit with it, but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for. -- Ram-Man 02:22, 6 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
