- Comment Very pretty, but I miss a usage in (= usefulness for?) any Wikimedia project. Find one, and I'll change to support. - A.Savin 19:07, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
- Comment Found use for the photo in en:Beaching (nautical). Category:Beaching is rather lacking. --NJR_ZA (talk) 16:16, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
- Comment Thanks for your question regarding usefulness (which is not the same as current usage). I love answering easy questions
- A ship is shown in its entirety typical of wooden shallow-hulled fishing vessels built in the 1930s in Denmark, and built for dragging on the beach, there are not that many left.
- At the location, there is no harbour, and there are shallow waters with high braking waves, so the ships are dragged onto the beach instead of anchored . This is one of three locations in Denmark, where this is still done. A bit North of there, there is a village, Klitmøller, also called "cold Hawaii" as many surfers, kite-surfers, and wind surfers enjoy the large waves and strong winds there.
- In the background is shown the rather unique landsscape of one of the few National Parks in Denmark - Nationalpark Thy. I might mention that on the same day a dead wolf was found just a few kilometers from there in the park - first time since 1813, where wolf were extinct from Denmark!
- The light from a low hanging sun at 3.30 pm and the dark clouds is a good illustration of November in Denmark.
- The light in itself by the sea in the area is claimed to be "special". Not far away from this place was the main base of the Skagen Painters. One of their main topics was depicting the harsh life of fishers in the late 19th houndred, see, e.g., here or here. As I physicist, I am sceptic regarding the "special" light claim though, as I cannot find a natural explanation for what should make the light so much more special here as compared to many other places.

- Comment @ Savin: Every man-created object, as in this case, contributes to knowledge. In this case, at the minimun level we see a fishing vessel typical of a geographical area. Further observation may yield information to ship lovers, materials used, configuration, geography, etc. In this case on top of the information that may be derived from this picture, we also have the aesthetical part of photography. It is indeed, outside of the usefulness as an information image, a pleasant image to look at. --Tomascastelazo (talk) 15:38, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
- Support Lovely picture. No requirement to be used in Wikimedia project -- we have Wikipedia FP for those sort of narrow usage-related awards. Colin (talk) 22:21, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
- Info Maybe "you" have Wikipedia FP, "I" have not. This does not exist in every Wikipedias (and I hope it will never exist in french wp !). Please remember that "Commons" is unique, as it is international, wikipedias are not...--Jebulon (talk) 12:44, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
- As a Scot, living in England, writing for an encyclopaedia hosted in the US, I'd say en:wp was fairly international too! But I know what you mean. Commons is more than just a resource for Wikimedia projects. Why all the timid writing all of a sudden? Be Bold! -- Colin (talk) 12:59, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
- Yes; the COM:FP is a window to editors in various Wikimedia and third-party projects. They will pick them for their uses. BTW, I added this beautiful picture to Vorupør. JKadavoor Jee 04:52, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you, Jkadavoor for adding it to that article. I think it fits nicely in there. I am usually reluctant to add my own pictures to existing articles as I often feel too biased. --Slaunger (talk) 08:41, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

- Support Thanks Jkadavoor for finding a good usage instead of telling long stories. - A.Savin 19:27, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
- And to NJR_ZA for telling about beaching! I did not even know that nautical term. So each do what we do best. I am a bad encyklopedist and stick to writing "long stories" and taking photos . Luckily other friendly users in the community also master editing Wikimedia project articles much better than I do. The diversity in user skills, knowledge and background is what makes this community so great. --Slaunger (talk) 21:08, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
