The Centro Popular de la Memoria is a former illegal detention center in Rosario, Argentina. The main building occupies a whole block in the city center, between Dorrego and Moreno and between Santa Fe and Córdoba St. It was the police headquarters and formally the home of an intelligence division. Its use as a detention center right before and during the military dictatorship (1976-1983) was re-discovered in 2001, and the building was completely refurbished starting in 2002. Relatives of desaparecidos (victims of forced disappearance, presumed arrested, tortured and murdered) have recently (March 2006) installed a makeshift museum/memorial site there.
