Discussion for move proposal:

There are two unrelated vehicle brands with the name "RAF" on Commons. The first, a commercial vehicles make from Latvia (formerly Soviet Union) built by the company Rīgas Autobusu Fabrika currently has the category "RAF vehicles"; the second, an automobile and commercial vehicles make from Bohemia (formerly Austro-Hungarian Empire) built by the company Reichenberger Automobil Fabrik currently has the category Category:Reichenberger Automobil Fabrik vehicles, which is not naming the brand but rather the company name (and thus is not fully appropriate with regards to the "brand" being the defining factor (cp. Category:Vehicles by brand).

To fix this problem both entities should be properly displayed by their (homonymous) brand "RAF" and at the same time be differentiated by parentheses. On this topic there already has been a lengthy discussion at User talk:Purzelbier#Reichenberger Automobil Fabrik and Rīgas Autobusu Fabrika which came to the conclusion that the most user-friendly and unambiguous differentiation would be by parentheses adding the respective company name to the brand name, thus creating Category:RAF vehicles (Rīgas Autobusu Fabrika) and Category:RAF vehicles (Reichenberger Automobil Fabrik), while the alternative of parentheses stating the respective country of provenance might be more controversial due to the historic changes in nationality of both Latvia and Bohemia.

On the subordinate category levels the proposed differentiation already has been implemented with Category:RAF buses (Rīgas Autobusu Fabrika), Category:RAF vans (Rīgas Autobusu Fabrika), Category:RAF automobiles (Reichenberger Automobil Fabrik) and Category:RAF vans (Reichenberger Automobil Fabrik).

There is a discussion of the same topic on Category talk:Reichenberger Automobil Fabrik vehicles.--Purzelbier (talk) 18:31, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Since there have been no objections for the last two weeks I'll execute the move today. --Purzelbier (talk) 10:27, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
